Users Meeting 2006
For the first time, the Meeting of the Users of the T-MAPY Company Products and Services was held in Moravia (Hotel Jana in the town of Prerov) and we must say it was a real success. The out-of-the-ordinaries included the selection of the meeting location and the events that preceded the Meeting itself. Now, let us tell you how the events developed:

Wednesday, September 20 – day zero of the Meeting, pre-conference activities /photos/

We wanted to offer our customers who attended the Meeting something special so we decided to organize a training course, or a seminar. The seminar was basically a day-long (it started at 10 am) event called GISel for the Advanced. ©kolitelem byl "otec GISelu" The instructor was the "father of the GISel", Mr. Vladimir Marsik, who provided the users with information on the GISel’s state-of-the-art tools (topological editing, user icon setting, hotlink with variables, and many more) and the users could test all the tools the very same day.

The afternoon hours were filled with Mr. Jiri Bradac’s seminar called UAP/UPD and GIS in the Light of the New Construction Act. The attendance, nearly 100 participants, proved the seminar’s content very topical. Since the interest in receiving this type of information was so great, we consider organizing this seminar again.

Thursday, September 21 – day one of the Meeting

The Meeting of the Users was opened in the hotel’s congress hall on Thursday at 10 am. This year’s attendance was slightly higher than last year’s (110 attendees) and the hall was filled to capacity.

The morning was devoted to the company events of that year and to the important news concerning the Construction Act amendment. After lunch, we introduced new items in ZIS and GIS applications and then we informed on the news in the geodata sphere. Most of this time was devoted to data visualization issues and trends in the 3D sphere. The afternoon block culminated with the contributions of our users – Roman Faber (Jindrichuv Hradec Municipal Office) and Petr Panec (Prague Municipal Office, Section of City Development). /photos/

An indivisible part of our Meetings are the outdoor activities /photos/that consist of team-building contests which provide the stepping stone to an informal, social evening. The story of how much our attendees enjoyed the activities mentioned is best told by the pictures taken there.

The attendees just love the evening workshops /photos/that offer the participants a unique opportunity to discuss a given topic together.

There was a smooth transition from workshops to entertainment. The social evening /photos/ was a great success and climaxed in a unique performance by the T-Band. The core of this music band consists of our colleagues from work (Pavel Trhon, Tomas Krecmer, Martin Latal) who, together with other invited musicians, have put up an unforgettable show – not only of the music kind. Too bad that the deadline for filing the Superstar 3 TV Show applications was over on that day.

Friday, September 22 – day two of the Meeting /photos/

Friday certainly wasn’t a number two day of the program; it was a day full of indeed interesting lectures that had been prepared for the users. These lectures were, however, focused rather on the technical issues.

The users were informed on the news from the ESRI User Conference and on the latest news subjects in T-MapServer and GISel. They were also told about the METIS metainformation system solution and greater part of the time was devoted to the new Tango Server technology (state, outlook, end applications, SDK to develop end applications, presentation on the development).
