Cyclist’s portal for the Usti Region
At the beginning of the year, the Usti Region put into service a cyclist’s web portal that utilizes the map service prepared by our company. The goals of the map service are to make the information on Usti Region bike trails available and to promote the region. The bike trails cover the Usti Region and continue in the Free State of Saxony. For this reason the map service also offers the German language version. The cyclist’s portal service was based on a 1:50 000 raster map by SHOCart cartographic publisher.

The map service features a route search by entering the places of departure and arrival; pass through places may also be entered. More pass through places may later be added, the existing deleted or changed. The requested route is displayed in the map; the itinerary and longitudinal section are generated as well. The itinerary shows the lengths of the route’s sections, ID numbers of roads and bike trails, and the type of communication’s surface. The longitudinal section shows the information on the route’s upward and downward gradients. The map together with the selected route, the itinerary, and the longitudinal section can be printed.

Another interesting feature of the map portal is the search within certain distance from a place already selected in the map. This way one can find restaurants, accommodation, info centers, and other points of interest that are listed on the cyclist’s portal. This tourist information can be enhanced with listing of address, phone number, business hours, and web link.

The T-MapServer’s editing tools are available to he cyclist’s portal administrator so that adding new routes and places of interest can be done on-line. This meets the basic requirement on maintaining the data up-to-date.

The shortest route along four requested places. Detailed itinerary and the route’s longitudinal section.
