The results of the 8th Annual Map of the Year Contest were announced at the World of the Book Fair in Prague on Friday May 5, 2006.

In its eight years of existence, the contest has gained many supporters (not only from the cartographic sphere) and the number of enrolled products and contestants has been steadily increasing every year. This year, twenty three map makers participated with more than seventy products in six contest categories.

Each contest participant was allowed to enroll an unlimited number of his products in one or more of the six categories. The contest committee evaluated the products and nominated the best of them for the “Map of the Year 2005” award. The winners were then announced at the award ceremonial.

Our company strived for first place in the Cartographic Applications on the Internet category with two applications.

• Map server for the Center for the Regional Development of the Czech Republic (CRR CR)
• Map service for the tourist and fishermen portal of the Trebon Region

Both applications were nominated among three best; the award went to the CRR CR map server

This is not our first achievement in the contest; the Mapy.Centrum.cz map service also received the Map of the Year award.
